There are many people who suffer ongoing pain and discomfort despite having had surgery. This is broadly referred to as ‘failed back surgery syndrome’.
Initially one must consider the normal causes of low back pain that could be creating ongoing symptoms. This includes disc pain from other levels, facet joint or sacroiliac joint pain. [Refer to low back pain. and/or leg pain for more information.] If other treatable causes are not identified then the most appropriate treatment may be a spinal cord stimulator.
Further information explaining the background of failed back surgery syndrome is also available.
